Canandaigua Lake

Canandaigua Lake, The Chosen Spot, is one of 11 Finger Lakes located in New York State and is 15.5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide. It is the 4th largest Finger Lake and is a popular resort destination with many seasonal residents. Canandaigua Lake has 36 miles of shoreline of which 97% is privately owned. Real Estate on the lake is some of the most expensive in the region and is the vacation home location for many high-net worth individuals who have invested millions into their lake front properties. As a teen, the actor Humphrey Bogart spent summers at his parent’s Canandaigua Lake cottage.

The lake is known for its water quality and provides all of the drinking water for the town and city of Canandaigua in addition to serving Rushville, Newark, Palmyra, and Gorham as a main supplier of water.  In 2017 the American Water Works Associated voted Canandaigua water the best is New York State. Canandaigua is known for it’s robust water sport lifestyle with residents enjoying boating and water skiing, sailing from the Yacht Club, fishing, swimming, and canoeing and kayaking.

The town is experiencing a surge of new development activities with a renovated Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center an outdoor concert venue which offers world-class music entertainment during the summer season, the recently renovated Inn on the Lake which has been renamed the Lake House and was recently voted by Conde Nast as being one of the Best Fall Getaways from NYC, the Pinnacle North development project with 450 residential rental units and 75,000 square feet of commercial space, the recently completed Hotel Canandaigua a Hilton Tapestry Hotel offering hotel rooms, a ballroom, resort-style condominium sales, and a waterfront pool, and the exciting Canandaigua Lake Wine and Spirits Trail which is a collection of wineries, breweries, B&B’s, restaurants and boutiques in and around the lake that celebrates this industry, are just a few of the many assets residents can enjoy.
